- Trailblazer's center Greg Oden will miss 2-4 weeks due to a 'mid-lateral' foot sprain suffered in the first quarter of the Blazers opening night loss to the LA Lakers. Sad to see Oden having all these troubles with all the anticipation Blazer fans had for him in the opener and after the team signed him with the 1st overall pick in last year's draft.

I know a lot have already given the award to Greg Oden, because traditionally if you are a once in a generation big man, who is from this country you get award. But historically it also goes to the guy who scores the most points (unless of course your Melo or C. Butler). So I do I don’t really see Oden being able to close it out. Not to mention they are comparing to him Bill Russell and he, Russell lost the award his rookie year.

rom Lady Luck when the first pick in the 2007 NBA draft was miraculously bestowed upon Portland and Greg Oden, a man-child center from Ohio State landed in our laps.  The moment The Big Silly was drafted an excitement shot through Portland as if Clyde Drexler had performed a pterodactyl like swoop to the basket. Fans began seeing visions of Bill Walton’s beard bopping down Broadway celebrating Portland’s only NBA championship in that glorious summer of 1977. Then, the record skipped.
