Why I Hate Carmelo Anthony posted on 09/24/2008

Hate is a strong word, yeah, yeah, I know.  My mother had always told me that you should never "hate" anyone.  It's almost the equivalent to wishing a certain someone would get struck by a bus.  But I mean, is it really wrong for me to "hate" Carmelo Anthony?  I've disliked players before, from all sorts of sports.  I remember there was a time when I absolutley disliked Michael Jordan.  I was, and to this day am the biggest Magic Johnson fan ever!  I just felt like, and quite frankly I still do, that it is actually Magic who is the greatest, and his "air-ness" is to play second fiddle.  Yeah, I may be the only one to make such a bold statement, but it is how I feel, I will go to the grave with that.  I somewhat dislike Brett Favre right now for putting me through the whole ESPN dedication to whether or not Brett will return to the Packers special before the season had started.  Truthfully, did anyone really think the Packers were going to take him back?  Be honest with "yourselves!"  You knew damn well they were tired of him retiring every season.  Time to move on.  Lastly I've always had this special dislike for Warren Sapp.  Ironically, dude is a contestant on one of my favorite shows, "Dancing with the Stars", so I refuse to watch it now.  I know you probably saying..."well Cole, why do you hate him so?"  I honestly have no particular reason.  I just do!  But back to Carmelo.  Isn't he just the epidemy of the word a-hole?  I mean I look at this guy and feel my stomach turning.  He is a few short steps away from becoming your typical Vernon Maxwell, Lawrence Phillips, J.R Rider type athlete.  I wouldn't even include Dennis Rodman's name in this, because at least Rodman was a team player, well, sort of...okay maybe he wasn't but he was a deadly rebounder, probably one of the greatest of all-time aside from Barkley.  I see a certain level of selfishness in Anthony.  His whole demeanor just screams out, "I am Carmelo Anthony, look at me, I can do whatever I want!"  He gets busted with weed, he drinks and drives before big playoff games, and worst of all he punched Channing Frye and RAN in that Nuggets vs. Knicks brawl that went down a few years ago.  One of my favorite "Melo moments" was when he appeared in that Stop Snitching home video talking a bunch of rah-rah as if he wasn't making millions of dollars to play b-ball, and instead was a hardcore gangster character, deep in the streets like Chris and Snoop from the Wire!  Pathetic.  I made this post strictly for you Nuggets fans though, and mark my words..."The Nuggest aren't going anywhere in the west."  No, no, no, like an old Destiny's Child single featuring Wyclef!  They cannot surfice.  No way.  Carmelo still hasn't come to grips with the idea that he is no longer (if he ever was) the leader on that team since the arrival of A.I.  JR Smith is a lunatic, and well, Kenyon Martin is a pyscho.  Allen Iverson will some how, some way find his way back to the Sixers, and I hope he does.  Because I can just see this next season chalk full of headlines that A.I is unhappy with the way things are going in Denver, and it'll all be Melo's fault!
