After watching Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers kick the Seattle Seahawks to the curb in a snowstorm it makes you wonder if this Packers team could actually beat New England. Now these upstart Packers are young, but they have a General who leads them into battle and his name is Brett Favre. Every now and than you can see the battle scars on him, but like any good General he leads the troops to victory. Favre is this kind of leader.

If any team is going to beat the New England Patriots they need a leader who has seen it all and lived to tell about it. Favre is one of those guys. He is one guy that will do what ever it takes to see his troops get the final victory. The Patriots understand this and I'll bet deep down they maybe rooting against the Packers this weekend. I really can't say I blame them either.

The Dallas Cowboys will play the New York Giants this Sunday in Texas Stadium, but the talk after the game could center around Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. It seems Jessica, Tony and Jason Witten and family members took a vacation to Mexico to get away from football. Now that is find, but in reality this maybe something that Romo and Witten could regret later down the road.

Romo has struggled the last few weeks and his mine should be on football and not vacationing the starlets. While he was down having fun the New York Giants were beating the Buccaneers and looking very well doing it. Where was Romo on vacation in Mexico. Do you know what Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were probably doing studying game film so they can get better. Stars like Manning and Brady understand their is always someone who wants to take you out and you must be better than the next guy. If you don't than you will get left behind.

Roger Clemens continues to profess his innocence that he has never used steroids. He has been on 60 minutes and now has had a press conference and released a tape with his former trainer to prove what he has said. Now I'm really torn on this one for a number of different reasons. I've always been a big fan of Roger Clemens but it seems there could be a lot of evidence that he has used them. The worse part about this whole story is no matter what Roger Clemens does he is always and forever going to be associated with steroids even if he is not guilty of it. It seems as a society we all rush to judge someone before we know the whole story. Even if Clemens is found to have never used them their still will be the cloud over his head. How much will it effect his hall-of-fame election is another story. He may not get in for awhile.

Every since Eli Manning was drafted and traded to the New York Giants so much has been written and said about him. He showed today why the New York Giants had faith in him and supported him even in the troubled times. Against the New England Patriots he showed great poise and now he went and carved up the no. 1 pass defense in the NFL the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

People say he gets happy feet and will make that mistake that will cost you. In Tampa their was none of that. In fact he made great decisions and didn't turn the ball over at all. He gave his team a chance to win and that is all you can ask of him. Manning has tried to do his best, but while your playing in New York your always held to a higher standard. I think it's time that New York fans and talk show hosts give Manning some respect after his last two performances.

When Bill Parcells was hired as the guy to turn around the Miami Dolphins you knew quickly action would follow. First his statement of no thugs on this team will be something he stresses more than ever. He believes you do things a certain way and if your not going to pack your bags because I don't need you.  In his short tenure he got rid of the General Manager and just recently fired the coach after a 1-15 season. Now I can understand both firings, but in Cam Cameron's defense he inherited this group of players, so he can't be totally to blame for the situation he was put in.  What was interesting was the Dolphins signing Ricky Williams to a contract recently.

Parcells is a hands on guy so he will oversee everything that happens with the Dolphins. Heck rumor has it even Keyshawn Johnson who is best friends with Bill Parcells could suit up for the Dolphins. Now that would be interesting to say the least. The Dolphins have a lot of problems on both sides of the ball. They lack direction and Parcells will bring that. Getting a good coach is something Parcells will make sure they have first. I wonder if he might become coach until they find the guy they want.

They say defense wins championship, but is that always the case. I looked over a couple of different teams recently and I would have to say it's true. When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had their magical run to the Super Bowl the main reason they made it was on their defense. The offense really couldn't get out of their own way so without the number one defense at the time they wouldn't have made it.

Second comparison and it's more recent and that is the Indianapolis Colts. During their title run in the regular season they had one of the worst defenses around, but when the playoffs came around it was another story. They played well and continue that play into a Super Bowl win. Now I guess in reality defense does win championships in those two cases. Now does it always work out that way. Nope sometimes the best defensive team doesn't always get to the Super Bowl.

Well this should not come as much of a surprise that Jose Canseco has signed a deal to finish his new book on steroids in baseball and according to him and his agent many more names will be dropped in his book that was left off the Mitchell report. Now I'm not one to say Jose always speaks the truth, but so far everything he has said has been right on. Now according to him A-Rod and Ivan Rodriguez were left off that list and should be included plus a few others which of course will be mention in his book.

I think the steroid issue is a lot deeper than what the Mitchell report put out their and I guess we will find out how deep it is. People sometimes that are still in the sport will not talk, but Jose has retired and he has no problem it seems letting the cat out of the bag. His new book should be a very interesting read for everyone. It's suppose to be out on Opening Day. Now won't that be just perfect for great sales.

It seems during the season as the New England Patriots were rolling over some opponents many in the press were saying this team is unbeatable. I will admit at times they do look that way, but at other times they look like a normal football team. Three times this season they could have got beat by teams that really played them well. The New England Patriots too their credit held on and completed a perfect 16-0 season. Perfection as we like to call it. Does perfection though has it's pitfalls?

One of the things that the regular season and the playoffs differ is the level of talent and play. Gone our the teams like the Buffalo Bills, N.Y. Jets, and the Miami Dolphins. No more soft teams anymore. To complete a perfect season you will have to earn it. Can the Patriots do that? Personally I don't think they will. In the last few weeks many weaknesses were exploited and for them in the playoffs it's all about matchups and this could prove their downfall. I think a loss during the season would be better as it would take the pressure off. As they go through the playoffs teams want to beat them just to say I was the team that stopped them.

It seems Roger Clemens used steroids if you believe what you read in the Mitchell report. According to Clemens though he has a totally different take on it. He has come out and denied that report. he has never used steroids and he is waiting for the right time to discuss it. Hmm now I wonder when that will happen.

Many people have already judges him so whateve he does or say now might really not make a difference anyway's. I guess people will have to wait and see what proof he may have to back up his claim. I know their is a lot of evidence in the report that really makes him look bad., The only other player that looks worse is the steroid poster boy Barry Bonds.

Clemens has many records and even awards so he has a lot to lose if he can refute his claims. Will he lose his Cy Young Awards? I don't know what will happen. I do know one thing though baseball has a bigger image problem then they already had. This report hans't helped it any that's for sure.

Withh all the things going on in Major League baseball maybe they should rename it the Hall of Shame. Baseball's Hall of Fame could be without some great players depending on how the voters vote after the Mitchell report came out and talk about steroid use as the main problem in the last ten years in baseball. Some of the game's biggest stars were implicated in the drug scandal. Names like Bonds, Petitte, Clemens were just a few of the names that surfaced. I wonder how many people have used it but never caught. Bet that would be a very intersting number.

The real big question is what do we do with all these players that have set records and are wanting to be their only to find out they are a user. Should they be in the Hall of Fame or the Hall of Shame? I vote to open a Hall of Shame to properly honor these people who cheated the game and the fans who paid their hard earned money to watch them. Now it makes me sit back and laugh because Pete Rose isn't allowed in because he bet on baseball and lied, but Mark McGwire and others are on the ballot who cheated the game. Hmm  very interesting indeed.
