It seems that John Swofford, the coordinator of the BCS did not really enjoy his time in front of Congress as some of them did not have kind words for him. Many things such as BS instead of BCS came out of their mouths fueling the fire what many college football fans are feeling about this system that we have to pick a National Champion. For the longest time I was for a playoff format, but I have thought a lot about it and I do agree a little bit with John Swofford, but not totally.

Yes, we would probably lose the bowl games if we did go to a playoff system even though some people said it would still work I seriously doubt we could keep them though. The one change I would like to see changes such as a better way to pick who plays in the championship game top make it more fair. The current system we have right now is full of holes and loopholes teams can exploit. If we could shore up some of these things I think the current BCS format would actually work out better then a playoff system.

Continue reading "BCS Gets Drilled By Congressmen"

The Cleveland Cavaliers know that Lebron James could leave them soon for money, bright lights, and more opportunities in other avenues such as New York City and other places. Many teams are positioning them for a run at James and other free agents in 2010 and that is why Cleveland not making any trades is kind of interesting. Cleveland was trying to make trades for Shaq and Richard Jefferson, but nothing became of it. Now Shaq and Lebron together would had been a very interesting pairing and one that would have been tough to stop. Richard Jefferson was another player that could have helped the Cleveland Cavaliers as well, but a deal could not be worked out.

Continue reading "Cavaliers Did Not Get Lebron James Any Help Not A Good Move"

Jimmie Johnson extended his points lead as he won the race at Phoenix this afternoon. Johnson led 217 of 313 laps to stretch his lead to 141 points which means he has only to finish 36th or better at Homestead in Miami to capture his third straight title. Many people do not realize how tough that is too do. Winning three straight Nextel Cup Championships is really tough. if you do not believe that just go back to see how many teams who won a championship lost the following year.

What Jimmie Johnson is doing is something special and it seems him and Chad Knaus have a special bond and they know exactly what they are doing. They might just win number four next year if they keep going the way they have in the past. Look for Jimmie Johnson continue to win unless someone else steps up to stop him. I really do not see that happening anytime soon.

Continue reading "Jimmie Johnson Wins At Phoenix And Extends Lead With One Race Left"

Well for right now Alabama and Texas Tech fans are really happy as they stand one and two in the latest BCS Standings, but how much longer will that last. Texas Tech this week must travel to Norman Oklahoma to take on the Sooners which will not be an easy task. The last two games for the Red Raiders were at home and that sure helps out a lot. Meanwhile Alabama has a SEC championship game with Florida waiting for them. What could be interesting about all this is Boise State and Utah could be the country's only undefeated and not make it. I look for Alabama and Texas Tech to lose somewhere down the line. If we have a bunch of one loss teams than the BCS will have to give a bunch of bad news to a lot of teams. In fact it should be very interesting. I am praying for a lot of one loss teams so eventually we can get rid of the BCS and put in a playoff system.

Continue reading "Alabama Texas Tech Sit One And Two Atop BCS Standings But For How Long"

First up USC looks unstoppable against Ohio State and then they get beat. Other teams such as Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin also have got eat already this season. This means that every week we could have a new number one team. Right now Oklahoma and Alabama look like the cream of the crop, but that could change again after next week.

Continue reading "Zany Life In College Football"

The Buckeyes have yet to be a top rated team when it really mattered and here is another chance for his team to do something about it. Chris Wells has been cleared to play so that helps out Ohio State as well. They will need all the firepower they can get against the USC Trojan defense that is very good indeed.

Ohio State does not have to take a backseat to them as the Buckeye defense last year was the best in the land and look to improve on a subpar performance against Ohio University last Saturday. USC meanwhile has had a week off and I really do not know if they will effect them a lot or will they be the USC team we know. I like Ohio State in this game as they cannot afford to lose this game where USC can. I like the Buckeyes by a field goal 27-24.

Continue reading "Ohio State Must Beat USC"

Yesterday when I read the short article about how Vince Young's mom came out and said he really did not want to play football anymore as he did not like the negative press he got. Now I guess it is time for me to chime in on this one. First Vince got a nice signing bonus and if he did not want to be booed then just retire and hand back the money of course he will not do that. This is not college football and you cannot hide away forever Vince Young you must be accountable and you threw an interception trust me a lot worse things will happen in your life than a turnover.

People need to stop protecting you and let you take what people throw at you. Sometimes life is not fair and we do not always get the deal we want, but we still must deal with it. If you do not want to play football that is fine as well. Just retire. This story is starting to get old about how you get down when people get on you. Either deal with it or just move on with your life.

Continue reading "Vince Young Does Not Like Football Anymore"

This also pushed him into third place in the pointy standings. Edwards have been quietly making noise on the circuit, but in a good way this year. Tony Stewart finished second and Jimmy Johnson finished third. Kyle Busch finished 36th and watch some of his point lead shrink.

Kyle Busch still has the point leads and leads everyone with seven wins so far this season. Edwards now has four himself. The Chase this year should be very interesting as their is a lot of fast cars that could be the winner. This year it is real tough to choose a winner, but I would give Kyle Busch the nod right now.

Continue reading "Carl Edwards Uses Fuel Strategy To Win At Pocono"

Glauber's NFL Blog" width="68" height="85" />

Roger Goodell has reinstated Brett Favre so he is now able to head to Packers camp. According to various sources he will report Monday around noon. I am sure their will be a media frenzy around this. Favre is still considering two options that the Packers have offered and that is a 20 plus million to go back into retirement or a seat on the bench.

Now I really do not see Favre doing either one. With Favre coming to camp that can only be bad news for the Packers if you ask me. If Favre is their and he is a back-up and plays well in that role some teammates are going to question why start Rodgers over Favre. This will do nothing but divide the Packers which is something you do not want. I think the best option is just trade him and cut their losses. This way the distractions will be gone. trading him out of the conference is something I would look at.

Continue reading "Brett Favre Gets Reinstated By Commissioner"

Well the Coaches have spoken and they tabbed the Georgia Bulldogs as the best team in College Football right now, but we know that can all change in one game. The Bulldogs had an impressive season last year and are bringing back many of their top stars from last year. They will be tough, but playing in the SEC is also very tough as well.

USC and Ohio State also will be two teams that you will also have to watch out for. One saving grace for some teams is these two play each other early in the season so a loss by either one early will not hurt them too bad. Oklahoma is another team to look for as well. The bottom line is their are many teams who could take Georgia's top spot. Let us just sit back and watch the fun and talk about college football all season long. Below is the Coaches Poll.

Continue reading "Coaches Poll Tells Us Georgia Is The Best Right Now"
