Well this should not come as much of a surprise that Jose Canseco has signed a deal to finish his new book on steroids in baseball and according to him and his agent many more names will be dropped in his book that was left off the Mitchell report. Now I'm not one to say Jose always speaks the truth, but so far everything he has said has been right on. Now according to him A-Rod and Ivan Rodriguez were left off that list and should be included plus a few others which of course will be mention in his book.

I think the steroid issue is a lot deeper than what the Mitchell report put out their and I guess we will find out how deep it is. People sometimes that are still in the sport will not talk, but Jose has retired and he has no problem it seems letting the cat out of the bag. His new book should be a very interesting read for everyone. It's suppose to be out on Opening Day. Now won't that be just perfect for great sales.

They say defense wins championship, but is that always the case. I looked over a couple of different teams recently and I would have to say it's true. When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had their magical run to the Super Bowl the main reason they made it was on their defense. The offense really couldn't get out of their own way so without the number one defense at the time they wouldn't have made it.

Second comparison and it's more recent and that is the Indianapolis Colts. During their title run in the regular season they had one of the worst defenses around, but when the playoffs came around it was another story. They played well and continue that play into a Super Bowl win. Now I guess in reality defense does win championships in those two cases. Now does it always work out that way. Nope sometimes the best defensive team doesn't always get to the Super Bowl.

When Bill Parcells was hired as the guy to turn around the Miami Dolphins you knew quickly action would follow. First his statement of no thugs on this team will be something he stresses more than ever. He believes you do things a certain way and if your not going to pack your bags because I don't need you.  In his short tenure he got rid of the General Manager and just recently fired the coach after a 1-15 season. Now I can understand both firings, but in Cam Cameron's defense he inherited this group of players, so he can't be totally to blame for the situation he was put in.  What was interesting was the Dolphins signing Ricky Williams to a contract recently.

Parcells is a hands on guy so he will oversee everything that happens with the Dolphins. Heck rumor has it even Keyshawn Johnson who is best friends with Bill Parcells could suit up for the Dolphins. Now that would be interesting to say the least. The Dolphins have a lot of problems on both sides of the ball. They lack direction and Parcells will bring that. Getting a good coach is something Parcells will make sure they have first. I wonder if he might become coach until they find the guy they want.

Every since Eli Manning was drafted and traded to the New York Giants so much has been written and said about him. He showed today why the New York Giants had faith in him and supported him even in the troubled times. Against the New England Patriots he showed great poise and now he went and carved up the no. 1 pass defense in the NFL the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

People say he gets happy feet and will make that mistake that will cost you. In Tampa their was none of that. In fact he made great decisions and didn't turn the ball over at all. He gave his team a chance to win and that is all you can ask of him. Manning has tried to do his best, but while your playing in New York your always held to a higher standard. I think it's time that New York fans and talk show hosts give Manning some respect after his last two performances.

Roger Clemens continues to profess his innocence that he has never used steroids. He has been on 60 minutes and now has had a press conference and released a tape with his former trainer to prove what he has said. Now I'm really torn on this one for a number of different reasons. I've always been a big fan of Roger Clemens but it seems there could be a lot of evidence that he has used them. The worse part about this whole story is no matter what Roger Clemens does he is always and forever going to be associated with steroids even if he is not guilty of it. It seems as a society we all rush to judge someone before we know the whole story. Even if Clemens is found to have never used them their still will be the cloud over his head. How much will it effect his hall-of-fame election is another story. He may not get in for awhile.

The Dallas Cowboys will play the New York Giants this Sunday in Texas Stadium, but the talk after the game could center around Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson. It seems Jessica, Tony and Jason Witten and family members took a vacation to Mexico to get away from football. Now that is find, but in reality this maybe something that Romo and Witten could regret later down the road.

Romo has struggled the last few weeks and his mine should be on football and not vacationing the starlets. While he was down having fun the New York Giants were beating the Buccaneers and looking very well doing it. Where was Romo on vacation in Mexico. Do you know what Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were probably doing studying game film so they can get better. Stars like Manning and Brady understand their is always someone who wants to take you out and you must be better than the next guy. If you don't than you will get left behind.

After watching Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers kick the Seattle Seahawks to the curb in a snowstorm it makes you wonder if this Packers team could actually beat New England. Now these upstart Packers are young, but they have a General who leads them into battle and his name is Brett Favre. Every now and than you can see the battle scars on him, but like any good General he leads the troops to victory. Favre is this kind of leader.

If any team is going to beat the New England Patriots they need a leader who has seen it all and lived to tell about it. Favre is one of those guys. He is one guy that will do what ever it takes to see his troops get the final victory. The Patriots understand this and I'll bet deep down they maybe rooting against the Packers this weekend. I really can't say I blame them either.

Lebron James the staple of the Cleveland Cavaliers looks like in a couple of years he could be jetting right out of Cleveland. James for the most part has been real patient with the Cleveland Cavilers management about getting some talent around him, but  he hasn't seen much. Yes, Cavalier fans you made it to the NBA Championship last year because of Lebron, but one man doesn't carry a team as you found out in the finals.

James has many ties to Northeast Ohio and that is true, but he knows that as each year passes it gets tougher to win a championship. The one thing that Lebron James never wants to be tagged as one of the best players never to win an NBA Championship. Unless something crazy happens in the next couple of years I see Lebron James leaving for somewhere else.

A lot of things can be said about the New York Giants, but one thing that will be said and that is they never give up. I will admit I didn't give them much of a chance in Green Bay yesterday and they shocked me on the way they played. Eli Manning was again error free and continued his string of great playoff games. In fact he even played well in the loss to the Patriots the last game of the season.

I thought the Giants were done after Lawrence Tymes missed two field goals that could have won it in regulation for the Giants. They loss the toss in overtime and Favre had the ball. Instead of holding their heads down they came up with an interception and Tymes got another chance to kick it through and garner the win.  The Giants are moving on to the Super Bowl because they wanted it more.

This year could be a very interesting year for Dale Earnhardt Jr. First up he has moved from DEI to Hendrick Motorsports and has two high profiled teammates in Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Plenty of pressure will be on Junior to do as well as the other two. Junior had a very disappointing season last year and he wants to show people he can still win and he wants that championship that Jimmie Johnson has right now.

Hendrick Motorsports has three of the highest paid drivers and my real question is can the big three co-exist with only one trophy to win. Many people say it will be fine and I really have to question that. The bottom line is that no matter who you are you want to be the best. This means Junior and Gordon and Johnson will do whatever it takes to win. if you think they won't your crazy.

The Dallas Cowboys will pay the 3 million dollar roster bonus that is owed Terrell Owens so he can come back for his third season in Dallas. Owens has played well and has stayed out of trouble so this was a no-brainer for Jerry Jones. I look for Jones to give Owens an extension and a hefty raise.

Jerry Jones though has other problems in his wide receiving corps that he will want to address real soon. Patrick Crayton who was suppose to me the guy to help T.O. out dropped easy passes in the playoffs that could have helped the Cowboys win. Jones needs also to decide on Terry Glenn. He hardly played this year and he is going into his 16th year if he comes back. It maybe time to draft a top notch receiver and let T.O. work with him.

Tony Romo needs more weapons to

Usually I don't follow a team on a losing streak, but the Miami Heat is a little different. When you got big profile names like Dwayne Wade and Shaq on your squad you would never imagine this could happen to them, but it is. Many teams that the Heat should be able to beat they just can't. Injuries has really slowed this club down and Shaq and Wade have missed games this season. Still losing 15 games in a row in the NBA is tough to do.

Shaq has been injured probably more than anyone this season and is injured again. Dwayne Wade has also been nursing injuries so this has a lot to do with the Miami heat and the streak they are on. The other thing that many people don't realize is losing Alonzo Mourning was a big blow. He was the perfect guy to back Shaq up and without either in the lineup it's all on Dwayne Wade.

Johan Santana was traded to the New York Mets for some prospects Tuesday which ended much speculation that he would be a Yankee or a Red Sox. The Mets were the big winner in this trade as they gave up some talent, but this should really help them get over the hump and go deep into the playoffs.

Now I really do question the Minnesota Twins though and what they are thinking. They lost Tori Hunter and now Johan Santana. It seems they really don't care about building a team anymore. They keep players a few years and when they get better they trade them away. IN one way it does save them money, but doesn't make your fan base very happy that's for sure.

Now they have to replace a starting pitcher and a centerfielder. Rumor is in centerfield they could be looking at Kenny Lofton. I wonder if they sign Kenny Lofton how many teams this would make him. maybe he's trying to get on each team once during his career. No matter what the Twins fans can't be to happy with this trade or losing Hunter.

This is something that I really am a lost for words. Every year the NFL stages a Pro Bowl where players are voted for and chosen to play in this annual event in Hawaii. Maybe it's because it's Hawaii is the reason the NFL continues to stage this ultimate boring game. They changed the rules so no one can get hurt, but they do. Many players seem to pass on it a couple of weeks before the time of the game. IT just seems like a waste of time anymore.

I think the NFL needs to do some tweaking to it to renew the interest in it. One move I suggest is to move it to the middle of the season instead of the last game. No one watches it because it's at the end of the season so moving it just makes sense to everyone involved. Secondly the winning side should get some kind of a perk. I don't know what that would be, but I'm sure the NFL could come up with something.
