With such a fast start the Dallas Cowboys and their fans are looking toward that rematch with the New England Patriots. Before that happens, some things are really going have to change or the same result is going to happen. The Cowboys offensively don’t have to take a back seat to anyone and with Tony Romo leading an offense that averages more than 20 points a game this will not be a problem no matter whom they play in the playoffs. Not all is good though for Cowboy fans and if you ask the really die-hard fans they will tell you what they worry about the most and that is the defense.
Last week against the Detroit Lions the defense got shredded for 390 yards which included 238 in the air and more than 150 yards on the ground. In fact Dallas struggled against a Detroit offense that has done nothing right the last few weeks. Take Aaron Rodgers who has played very little since being drafted and he was able to also shred the Dallas defense when he came in for an injured Brett Favre. When you get to the playoffs your weaknesses are exploited even more. Unless the Cowboys come up with some quick fixes on the defense side of the ball trouble could be looming very quickly.
Luckily Tony Romo and Terrell Owens and rest of the offense has been able to make it a nonissue, but that won’t happen when the playoffs get here. Defense win’s championships plain and simple and unless the Cowboys fix this problem real soon it could be a fast exit out of the playoffs no matter what kind of offense they put on the field.
