Patriots Continue on Path to Perfection

If you want to beat the Pats, you've got to be perfect. Jacksonville started out like they thought they could beat the almighties, but ultimately fell to the Patriots with some key gaffs.

The Jaquars started off with an impressive drive and scored a controversial TD as Garard appeared to be in the grasp when he threw the pass. Would Belichick make a mistake by not tossing the red flag? Would he appear human? The announcers and fans were hoping he'd swallow one but it was not to be.

After the TD, the Pats blew into Jacksonville territory despite a sack on the first play. Again, the announcers were praising Jacksonville who seemed poised to at least compete with the Pats. They even recovered a fumble. We look to the bench. Is Belichick nervous? Heck no.

Belichick, probably the most touted coach since Vince Lombardi, has his offense running like a well-oiled machine. Whether it's Laurence Maroney dancing down the sidelines or pushing the pile to the goal line, or Randy Moss catching the 48 yard pass, his only one of the night, on his fingertips down the sideline, they have so many ways to beat you.

And like all championship teams, they have the killer instinct. Whenever an opponent scores against them or makes a mistake, they come roaring back with a vengence like they did last night against Jacksonville. Northcutt dropped a key pass from Garard, and the Jaquars settled for a field goal. Brady came right back with a TD pass to Watson, yet another weapon in their arsenal.

Although watching these Pat games and rooting in vain for someone to beat them, you can't help but marvel at how good they really are. You look for signs from their opponents but alas the Pats quickly dispel hope--like Randy Moss' 48 yard reception and Rodney Harrison's interception at the conclusion of the fourth quarter.

It's all in a day's work for the Pats...next victim?
