NFL Week 6 Predictions

Week 5 is in the books. I went 2-2 last week (3-1 if the Texans would have hold on to the lead) but anyways...We put Week 5 in the history books and we open up a new chapter: Week 6! Just like last week and for the remainder of the season I'll pick 4 games every Friday. I'll break them down and predict them so you can take notes and ride the cash train from Vegas after the week! (JK!)

Overall Record: 2-2
Last Week's Record: 2-2

So without further ado....let's begin. Hit the music.

1) Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings won a crazy game against the Saints on Monday Night. They stand at 2-3 on the season and look to even up their record with a win over the Lions on Sunday. Lions' WR Roy Williams told the media this week he still thinks the Lions have a shot at the playoffs. As Jim Mora is famous for "Playoffs?! Your kiddin me?! I just hope we can win a game!". Williams said they could be 12-4 also. All I have to say is good luck with that Royster. Maybe 4-12 Roy...if you're lucky! I don't hate Detroit they just don't have enough talent to pull such a feat off. Back to the game though, Detroit has not won in 10 consecutive trips at Minnesota. Add a loss, I'm picking the Vikings in this one. For no other reason then last week when the Lions blew my pick against the Bears. And because the Lions have shown nothing to me this season to indicate they can win this game in Week 6.

Winners - Minnesota Vikings

2) Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals

Both teams are coming off Week 5 victories. Dallas blew a big lead against the Benagls, but held on. The Cardinals stomped the Bills giving them their first defeat of the season along with some big injuries.  Some are hyping this to be game of the week. You have a Cowboys team having to gasp for a win over the lonely Bengals. Pacman returns to his old form on Wednesday, but the Cowboys are giving him a pass. The Cardinals on the other hand play great in the Desert and Kurt Warner has played pretty well as of late. Very compelling stuff. However, I just can't make myself pick the Cards in this one. Dallas' talent level is above Arizona's. So therefore I pick Tony Romo and company in this one.

Winners - Dallas Cowboys

3) Miami Dolphins @ Houston Texans

Both teams feel very different about their last two games on their respected schedules. Dolphins are coming off wins over the Patriots and Chargers while the Texans gave up a 17 point lead over the Colts in the last 4 mins and lost the week earlier in OT to the Jaguars. So both teams are feeling totally different vibes right now. These two teams have faced each other 3 times with Houston 3-0. I've been thinking all week about this one. This is a hard pick. Houston is desperate for a win, but I just have a gut feeling that Miami is going to find a way to win this game. I hate that I feel like that being a Texans fan, but I'm going with Miami in this one. Dolphins have been my favorite team to watch this season so far. I know I shouldn't root for the Fins to score off the Wildcat formation against my team, but ah ---. Okay maybe a lengthy run by Brown off the formation. Either way Miami wins my pick here. Which would pit the Lions/Texans in Week 7! The "Winless Bowl"!

Winners - Miami Dolphins

UPSET SPECIAL
4) New England Patriots @ San Diego Chargers

This week with my "Upset Special" pick, I'm picking the Patriots to surprise the Chargers in San Diego. This is a Chargers team I think will turn that corner every week, but they never seem to so far this season. I had them defeating the Dolphins last week, but Miami's defense held them in check. On the other hand the Patriots defeated the 49er's in San Fran last week and have stayed on the west coast all week in preparation for the game on Sunday night. I mentioned on last week's predictions that the upset pick has won 4 out of the 5 times on Sunday Night Football going into last week. It happened again last week with the Steelers over the Jags and I have a feeling it'll happen again with the Pats/Chargers. It's probably just a fluke, but I'm going to ride it till it stops. Patriots would be 4-1 with the win. Not bad for a Brady-less team. This is still a team with only 1 loss in the last 90 weeks it seems like. My upset special pick last week was working out fine for the first 56 minutes. I accidently looked at the scoreboard wrong through my crystal ball. After the game I was thinking about taking it back to the crypt, but I'm giving it one more chance! My crystal ball has promised me that the Patriots will defeat the Chargers. So I patted its back and asked it "you really think so crystal ball?" and the smoke and magic appeared and I saw that my crystal ball was telling the truth. I saw Patriots players grinning after the game and I saw the scoreboard in its entirety. Patriots win, Patriotssssss win.

Winners - New England Patriots

Those are my 4 picks for week 6 in the NFL. I can't say I feel better with my picks then I did last week, but I can tell you if I go 2-2 again I would consider that a disappointment. I can't say "well it's still early in the season! I can come back!" No. Thats an excuse. I cold heartily plan to try and nail more games down here and in my pick em leagues because losing games is no fun. If I was in Vegas last week, I would be on the street at the moment. But thankfully I pick games from the comfort of my own home. Anyways, before I wrap it up I want to make mention of a couple big and interesting sporting events along with the NFL games this weekend. Tomorrow, the 103rd Red River Shootout will take place up in Dallas matching the Sooners and the Long Horns and the 2nd ever outdoor NBA game will take place as well as the Suns take on the Nuggets in California.  Those are a couple of games you might want to keep an eye on as well. Back to the NFL, I'll be back on Tuesday and every Tuesday for the remainder of the NFL season with my NFL Week Fallout report breaking down each game. Week 6 should be another exciting week in the NFL. With that said, I bid you a happy reading and a happy sports watching weekend!
