Six time All-pro LB James Harrison turned down the third offer made by Pittsburgh today. Harrison signed with Pitt. in April 2006 to a four year 5.5 million dollar deal that ends at the end of the 2009 season. Obviously the Steelers would much rather keep Harrison than watch him lead some one else's defense through the playoffs and into the Superbowl like he did this year. He was absolutely unforgiving with his 59 tackles, 16 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 1 record breaking interception. LEGIONDARY!!! Thank you James Harrison for the awesome year of football, hope to see you in black & gold in 2010.
No more Nate Washington in Pittsburgh. After 1,705 receiving yards, 12 touchdowns, and 104 catches in his three seasons with the Steelers. Nate Washington decided to sign a 6 year 27 million dollar deal with AFC rival Tennessee. Washington probably didn't want to stay number three man in Pittsburgh behind Ward and Holmes. So good luck to him.
Offensive tackle Max Starcks signed a one year deal worth 8.451 million, but was marked as a franchise player. Both the Steelers front office and Starks say that they want him to be in Pittsburgh for remainder of his career. G Chris Kenoeatu resigned for five years and could be worth up to 20 million dollars. TE Sean McHugh also resigned today. No specifics on that.
In sadder news OG Kendall Simmons was released after his Achilles injury ended his 2008 season. After seven seasons with the Steelers. Simmons was Cower's first round draft pick back in 2002.
The other free agents on the list this year for Pittsburgh include Bryant McFadden, Byron Leftwich & Charlie Batch, Trai Essex, Keyaron Fox, Orpheus Roye, Willie Colon and Andre Frazier. Pretty much everyone else should be back for another great season. Let's Go Steelers!!!
