Money can't buy you love, but it can buy CC, maybe Manny and a ring too?
It's funny that for three weeks the Yankees had an offer on the table that surely they knew wasn't their best foot forward kind of offer. It was them letting the other teams know that if we can start at 140 million dollars whose to say we can't reach 180 million, and they would've if they had too, the next closest bid was 100 million and word around baseball is the other owners aren't too happy with the Yankees for flexing their big market muscles, but come on like they wouldn't if they could. Maybe the other teams shouldn't spend their luxury tax money on airplanes and cars and start putting back into their teams and see where that gets them. Everyone knows that these days money doesn't guarantee championships, heck for the past 8 years the Yankees have proven it to be true, they've owned the title as highest payroll for several years now but NO rings, meanwhile teams like the Tampa Bay Rays, Florida Marlines and Colorado Rockies have proven that good draft picks and core veterans can be a recipe for success! Sorry but that just isn't the Yankee way, at least not for the past 8 or so years but whose says it can't buy them a ring and who cares if it does? The Yankees have gotten a pitcher out of the way in CC Sabathia, now they need to go buy another pitcher maybe two, with the second one being Andy Pettite and then go out and get yourself a hitter and not just any hitter someone who can stand behind AROD. This isn't a job title few can hold but I know one that can and one I think if the Yankees are serious about buying a championship they will go out and get him, it's former Yankee killer Manny Ramirez. Put him in that lineup, with the rotation shaping up to be tops in baseball, a bullpen that has possibly the best closer of all time in Rivera, and your looking at a 200+ million payroll that just might finally buy a championship, a championship that wont taste any less sweet than if they spent 20 million and won.
