Why My Broncos Won't Win The Division

As I watch MY Denver Broncos losing currently 34-0 to the Patriots, despite them using Matt Cassell, I find myself worrying. Do NOT get me wrong, I love the Broncos, but as you'll learn as you read more of my blogs, I tend to focus on the good, the bad, and the ugly.*Cue theme song here*

The Good: The Broncos have a high powered offence. When they are healthy, they are a forced to be reckoned with. Weapons like Brandon Marshall, Brandon Stockley, and rookie Eddie Royal are always a threat, and with a QB with a rocket like Cutler, they should be dominating their currently struggling division. As always, they seem to have a decent running back, who under the coaching staff lead by Mike Shanahan, should rush for a 1000 yard season. The offensive line for the Broncos has also been AMAZING.

The Bad: Costly penalties seem to be getting worse and worse. Pass interference, unsportsmanlike, and face-masking penalties are killing the already struggling defence. They are 30th in pass defence (possibly 31st after this domination) and their rush defence has given up huge losses. Recently in the news Jay Cutler has been quoted as saying "I can throw harder than John Elway, I've got the hardest throw in the league." There is a such thing as too cocky, especially when referring to a legend such as Elway. What Cutler SHOULD of said was "I shouldn't even be spoken in the same breath as John Elway yet. He was a great quarterback, and all I can do is work hard to try to help my team win games." Jay has always been a confident player, but this just took things a little to far.

The ugly: Football basics. BALL SECURITY. The fumbles have been RIDICULOUS. Nothing more needs to be said except Mike Shanahan needs to really crack down on these guys. If they aren't going to hold onto the ball, bench them. Hall in this game alone fumbled twice. Stupid turnovers that could easily be prevented shouldn't be tolerated. It seems all to often that the Broncos have a promising drive ended prematurely when they turnover the ball.

The bottom line is that the Denver Broncos are in a tough spot. Luckily, the Chiefs and Raiders seem basically out of the division. That leaves the also struggling Chargers to contend with. The Chargers are competing much better than the Broncos are currently in their division, and if the Broncos aren't careful, they are quickly going to lose their spot as division leaders, and if they aren't careful, a playoff spot.
