Multiple Brackets Secure Bragging Rights

I picked Kansas right last season. I had them going all the way. A couple of years ago, I picked the Northwestern State upset of Iowa. I did. I also had George Mason going to the Final Four. Okay I didn't have that one but I did pick the others.

Of course to find out that I had those magnificent picks, I had to flip through a see of paper. Not that my desk is messy, it was the fact that I fill out about 10 brackets a year. But that is a good thing.

Bragging rights are important and one way to ensure that you can say you knew that big upset was going to happen or that Cinderella team was destiny's child is to have all your bases covered.

Let's face it. In three weeks when we are getting ready for the final four and the national title game, the talk around the water cooler will be how great your bracket looks.

"I got all of the East correct." "I knew the No. 1 were going to the Final Four, I have it my picks. They were just too tough this season."

What you don't say is that 12 of your 13 brackets have more wrong than right. And that your great picks are spread over picks in six different pools.

For the serial bracket filler out, its not really our fault. Every web site has a bracket challenge game and every time I turn around another friend is running a uh hum "just for fun" pool. How can you say no to a friend.

And by next year, like the tournament all you will remember is the great picks, the huge upsets that you knew were coming and how with your superior basketball knowledge you picked the right champion. Like me with Kansas this year.

Since I am on a hot streak, who do I like this year? The pick is obvious. I like Louisville...UNC and there is UCONN, Memphis looks like they are due, Pitt is tough, Missouri has an outside chance and what about Nova. And then there is Oklahoma and Duke always seems to save their best for the tournament.

It looks like I am going to pick the winner again this year.

  1. How awesome wouldl it be to see UNC and Duke in the final! Of course with UNC blowing them out and Hansbrough dunking over Paulus trying to take a charge. Take That! Troy Murphy look-a-like.
